Webinar: Demand Response - Now that we can measure it, why not price it?

Presented by the Association for Demand Response and Smart Grid
September 30, 2020
2:00pm – 3:00pm ET

During our Webinar, entitled “Demand Response - Now that we can measure it, why not price it? we heard from three of the people in the utility industry who are on the cutting edge of new types of pricing programs for customers.

Webinar Description:
More time-based meters are being installed across the country with each passing day. New research on how customers feel about pricing continues to be rolled out. Some of the newest information on this comes from the large and well-studied pricing programs at Oklahoma Gas & Electric and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD).

This webinar presented findings on four different pricing options – TOU, CPP, TOU-CPP and VPP – under various marketing and enrollment options, including both opt-in and default enrollment. The webinar covered what customers think about time-variant rates compared with standard rate options, how load impacts vary across different rate options and enrollment strategies, what drives rate choice and opt-out decisions, whether impacts persist across multiple years, and more.

During our Webinar, entitled "Working Together on DR and Smart Grid: The Ontario Story" that was held on Thursday, November 1 at 1pm EST, we heard from some of the key players that have been involved in making Ontario one of the first, and still most active, places for demand response and smart grid.

Webinar Description:     While there has been much attention paid to the recent deployment of demand response and smart grid in the U.S., other countries have also been active. In fact, the Province of Ontario in Canada moved out very early in these areas. Also, not only did Ontario act, but it did so in a process where, from the beginning, government and industry worked collectively and cooperatively. This Webinar focused on specific demand response and smart grid activities in Ontario, but also on the story of how things came about in Ontario and where things are headed.

Moderator:
Dan Delurey, Association for Demand Response & Smart Grid

Speakers:   Amir Shalaby, Ontario Power Authority Paul Shervill, Rodan Energy Solutions
Alan Clarke, Energate
Ron Dizy, ENBALA
